Officia desrunt mollit

A description that lists what something is will be read once. A description that answers the questions someone was already holding gets read to the end, and it is usually shorter.

Say what it is for before saying what it is made of. Materials and dimensions matter, but they answer a second question. The first one is whether this is the right kind of thing at all, and nobody reaches the specification if that is still unresolved.

Name the constraint honestly. Every item is unsuitable for something. Saying so costs one sentence and removes the single most common reason for a return, which is that the buyer imagined a different use.

Put the number that decides the purchase in its own line. Whatever it is — a size, a capacity, a duration — it is the thing being scanned for, and burying it in a paragraph guarantees it is missed.

Everything else can be cut. A description is not a specification sheet; it is the part that decides whether the specification sheet gets read.
