This module outputs the standard Joomla copyright line, with the current year filled in automatically so it does not need updating each January.
On most sites it ends up replaced. A finished site usually wants its own footer — the organisation's name, a company or charity registration number, a privacy link — which is normally supplied by the template or by a custom module in the same position. The Joomla footer module is what fills that position until something else does.
